House Argyro is a traditional Cretan stone home in the hillside village of Mavrikiano, above Elounda Bay. Built in 1905 and shaped over generations, it combines preserved architectural character with a quieter village setting close to Elounda.
85 m² · Sleeps 4 · 2 bedrooms · Multi-level layout · Sea-view veranda · Private courtyard
House Layout
House Argyro unfolds across several levels in the traditional way of older Cretan homes. From the entrance level, guests arrive at the kitchen and bathroom. A level above is the living and dining area. Between these levels sits a semi-private sleeping area with two single beds beneath a stone arch. On the upper floor is the main double bedroom, which opens directly to the sea-view veranda.
Inside the House
The interior combines stone textures, traditional woodwork, and original fireplaces with the practical requirements of a comfortable stay. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the house includes air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everyday essentials without losing the character of an older Cretan home.
Outdoor Living
The sea-view veranda is the main outdoor living space of the house. The outdoor kitchenette and barbecue are located here, making it the natural place for meals and time outside overlooking Elounda Bay. A separate private courtyard provides a second, more sheltered outdoor area.
Location
House Argyro sits in Mavrikiano, around a 10-minute walk from Elounda’s beach, harbor, tavernas, and shops. Its elevated position gives it a quieter atmosphere while keeping the waterfront close at hand. Shared private guest parking is nearby, approximately 80 metres from the house, with space for up to 5 cars in total; if the shared parking area is full, guests can usually park for free around the village.
Suitability
House Argyro is well suited to guests who value architectural character, outdoor living, and a traditional village setting over standardised accommodation. It works particularly well for couples and small families who are comfortable with a multi-level layout.
Practical Note
